Default Is $1,000 too high for cam and spring installation?

I was quoted $1,000 (excluding any type of tuning) for cam and spring installation. Is this too high?

Did you call around to several shops? If not, try that and you will get a ball park estimate for the area I would imagine.

Problem is, the place I called was the only one open for the holidays.

If it saves you $500, it would be worth waiting until you could check with more shops. If you are mechanically competent, you could do it yourself. Look up some good instructions and get a buddy, couldn't be that hard, just time consuming (especially the valve springs).

I wont have the money for a few months so its not an issue really. I am just wondering if that sounds reasonable.
