RE: Your opinion on air intakes?
I have a mac cai and i dont see what is wrong with it!? I happen to like it actually. When i shut my car off you can hear the intake "gasping for air", it sounds freakin bad ***!

HP gains from any CAI on a stock motor will be minimal. As your mods pile up, CAI will make more of a difference. Exact numbers of HP gains are impossible. Suffice that "better" will be obtained by a JLT intake. Whether or not a CAI is the best bang for the buck at a given time in your build you're currently at, still a tough question. Eventually you will want a CAI, may as well get the best. My first was from K+N, it's for sale now.
Pulling air from the fenderwell is usually better than pulling air from the engine compartment. How much so depends on mods.

I have a BBK cai, dyno numbers before the install 170rwhp @ 4300rpm, 228Lb-ft tor @3520rpm. After install; 179rwhp @4291rmp 234lb-ft tor @3530rpm. I like it, sounds good, looks good and I was pleased with the numbers.

JLT hands down for the best in HP/TQ gains. The standard RAI intake has a huge filter that stays in the engine bay and can even be installed with a heat shield. We recommend these because you can pull the passenger head light and have a direct ram air set up in minutes. The conical filter Jay supplies with the kits also feature a 360 inlet open end style that allows for air to feed from the front of the filter unlike the K&N's with a plastic capped end.
They also work well with Nitrous applications as the material is much stronger than that of other plastic intakes such as the K&N's. I don't much recommend the MAC's or BBK's due to the fact that they heat soak really quick, fenderwell or not. Drawing air through a hot pop will increase the inlet air temp, sacrificing anything gained from being in the fender and starting with colder air.
Don't believe me, then try icing your intake, the car will gain power from the colder intake cooling the air passing through it. It's similar to the old fox bodies with a bag of ice on the aluminum intakes to make more power.
On a modded car, it will really show big gains with some tuning to maximize A/F ratio and your mods. Good Luck, we have them in stock.
