I'm sure a muffler shop would have the mechanical inclination to work on your mufflers. They would probably do it too, if you payed them.

he's talking legally..., with regards to laws to removing emissions control devices.

That I don't know. All I know is they can't work on the emissions stuff, I'm sure they'd be fine to do the mufflers.

i was being sarcastic :P...i went to a midas today and they told me they wouldnt take 2 of my cats off because they would get a 26k fine but a local proformance shop told me theyll install one but i have to sign a paper first saying i know it's illegal, it all depends on the shop

Oh i know dude I laughed to myself lol.

Some places don't want to mess with it... I never knew there was a way to sign a paper.

On my accord... my Cat got fugged up internally, and I asked at my work (ford dealer) if one of the techs could just chop it out and put a straight pipe in for me, and they said no it's illegal. So I came in on saturday and on my time off just cut it out myself. I'm not putting in a brand new catalytic converer on a 219k mile car that may die in less than a year.

They should be able to swap mufflers

I had my cats taken off and the o/r H put on at a guys garage..

im sure its one of those things where he did it 'off' hours, doesnt claim the money I gave him as income, and if anyone asks him if he put an uncatted midpipe on a BLue 99GT,, he'd say, put a what on a what?

exactly. In the end it's down to the owner's choice and liability to ride around in an emissions illegal car.

Then again both my cars right now have no cats... haha whatever... go after those old diesel semis that are blaring black smoke
