NO YOU WILL NOT GET A CODE 70% of the time till the car does not want to run

Have it put on Oasis at Ford, you may have several issues, . Had a 4.6 with 4 bad Cops and it idled wierd and miss every now and then.

No codes, Oasis will test each one and monitor the system, way better than the ECM can do its own self[:-]

if you have a bad cop, I have 8 Excellent ones from Ford. What we do is repalce all eight under warranty and keep the good ones to ourselves, in this guy case, his misfire were the garbage platinums in the motor and not the COP'S, so I have 8 of em with 10k on them, still smells brand new from an 2002 4.6

Oasis?! Thanks. Usually don't think of Ford when I'm working on my Ford. You're right...usually no codes on a lame COP.

If he asks you to stay in the car and asks your girl friend to step out of the car. Then starts patting your girl down. Usually means hes a bad cop.

i think i have a few bad ones myself, a guyfrom another forum had three bad coils so the one-coil-swap thing didn't work for him either and all the coils passed the resistance test and itnever threw a code, so the possibility of multiple bad coils is very likey.

from my experiences, bad COPs tend to be more apparent at lower rpms ( under 2K) so i think i'm gonna be a test mule for these link

[sm=helpout.gif] How can you tell if you have a bad coil on plug? In the past I have stuck a new one in the holes until I found where it smoothed things out. What happens if you have 2 bad? This method won't cut it. Is there a tester?
you could possibly check the ohms it may find one of them........ take the boot and springs off and check prongs on top and bottom of the plug but i cannot remember whatrange it is suppose to be in... if you have HAYNES manual it will tell you.
2 of mine went bad once the CEL came on the other didn't I check the OHMS and the one that ended up being bad i was getting the correct readings i finally took it to a shop

my bad COPfelt like it spittin and sputtering thats how both of mine felt almost as it was skipping...
