Whine Driving me nuts!

Whine Driving me nuts!
2003 GT everything stock 19k miles.
I'm getting a whine on deceleration, coasting from 40mph to 30 mph. If I very lightly step on the gas it mostly goes away.
At first I thought it was fuel pump whine, but I don't think so.
It sounds like something is going on in the rear end.
I notice I also get a very slight "wump, wump, wump" noise on occasion, but not often. If I swerve left and right it quickly it usually goes away but swerving one way or the other doesn't make the sound worse (test for outer axle bearing). I figure the diff fluid is being sent out to the outer bearings in the axle by swerving and quieting things down.
The biggest problem is the decel whine though.
I'm being REAL finicky here as I have heard people who have whine so loud it sounds like a cop car behind them.
I don't have anything even remotely like that, but it annoys me.
I changed the diff fluid and used Mobil 1 synthetic 75w-140 with a bottle of friction modifier.
The old fluid looked fine and there was no sign of debris or odd wear pattern on the pinion or ring gear.
Do others have this very slight whine?
Again, I'm not talking about a screaming pumpkin here, but with the radio off and the top up I can hear it.
I plan on having 3:73 or *maybe* 3:90 because I do a lot of highway driving and zero racing, at least from a standstill, 4:10 are too much for me.
Aside from the master bearing kit, what else should I get?
I want to replace everything and anything that might be causing the problems and I suspect the axel bearings are at least part of the problem.
Should I go for a clutch pack as well?
Any place I can get this stuff as a complete package other than Ford?
I'm planning on Ford Racing gears, but Motive is a strong second although I have heard mixed opinions on them and seriously don't want to make things worse.
I'm going to have a Mustang specialty shop install everything BTW so I also intend to have them take it for a ride and make suggestions.
Any and all advice is appreciated!!

RE: Whine Driving me nuts!
I only read like 1/3 of your post. My car has a whine too from 40-30, also it has kind of a ruuhm ruhhm ruuhhm from 40-30 also, I have an automatic tansmission and I'm sure it's the trans because it mostly does it in First gear. When I was looking to buy a Mustang I test drove about 8 or 9, all of them whined except for one. Hope I helped a little.

I have an auto as well and on accel in first gear it sounds a little like a turbine!
Reminds me of one of those "red alert" sounds on the old Star Trek.
From what I have been told, the tranny whine is a Ford thing and most, not all, but most do it.
It doesn't hurt anything.
I guess I'll know for sure when I get the new gears!
Thanks for the advice...!
Steve
P.S I come from driving Minivans and *family cars, land yahts* so I am used to not hearing anything!
My last sports car was the original Rabbit GTI circa 1984.

For some reason I have a whine to. It's on acceleration, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, and during deceleration in all gears. Even when just sitting in traffic idling or revving.

My whiner, the one with no gears, finally left me alone after whining for 1/2 hour all about Xmas bills.
It's a yearly ritual.
