Fox Body Spring Conversion
hey guys, i gotta question about the fox body spring conversion on my 99 gt. i'm buying a set of front springs off an 82 4 cyl. stang and a set of rear springs off an 88 gt. What exactly do i have to do to prep them for install? How much do i cut off of them to lower my car say 1"- 1 1/2" or how much ever you guys do it w/ these springs. also, what other parts do i need to purchase to do the install. Thanks alot.

RE: Fox Body Spring Conversion
You don't need any other parts to do the install. I'd install the front as is and cut the back 1/2 coil to start. That should drop you about 1.25 or so. Don't cut anymore the first time. Install them and see how they look, if you want it lower then take em off and cut some more. Remember to cut them off with a saw or cutoff wheel, not a torch. I ended up cutting 1/8 of a spring off the front and 1 3/4 off the rear (my rear's had a dead coil). Remember the springs will settle slightly after a day or two - even used ones.
You can see how my car sits in my sig.

RE: Fox Body Spring Conversion
I don't use em at all, to get the dropped look I wanted, and use the isolators, I woulda had to cut another half coil off the springs. The more coils you remove the stiffer the effective spring rate will be (meaning less weight transfer)... so I ditched all the isolators. The isolators are only there to prevent squeeks and the springs from popping... if you set the springs in right you won't get pops and odds are you won't get any sqeeks anyways... mine don't make any sqeeks.
