Default Synthetic???

Ok guys, I bought the Pony Conv. GT a couple months ago. I just changed the oil (Motorcraft oil). Should I change to synthetic? What are the pros and cons? Any particular oil I should use like Mobil 1? Help me out here my Stangs!

Thanks Alot

what weight do you guys use? I use Mobil 1 in my wife's focus and I use the 5w20 I just got my Mustang so I have not switched the oil yet and I was'nt sure what weight I was gonna use. I've also been considering Amsoil 2000.

any particular reason for the 10w30? Climate in your area? How you drive it? Do you change the weight as the weather changes.

Hey guys, I'm running mobil 1 in mine as well. I put 10w30 in mine but ford recommends 5w30, which is a little thinner and mainly better for cold starts and what not. To be honest, had I known 5w30 was recommended I would have put that in. If it's going to be driven in the winter/below freezing temps, go with the 5w30, it'll probably work out better for you, but for the most part 10w30 should be fine. Either way, you can't go wrong with the synthetic in my opinion, I mainly switched to synthetic because you can get twice the milage out of it in comparison to traditional oils. I'm assuming you're putting it in a newer car by the sounds of it, but they say you have to watch out putting synthetics in older blocks because you'll notice small oil leaks that weren't there before. That's the only draw back of the synthetic that I've heard of...oh, and keep in mind, never mix synthetics with regular oils, I heard they gum up when mixed.
