Default GEAR INSTALLATION

I'm putting in 4.10's this weekend, and i went to ford to get a new gasket and he gave me this silicon sealant. he said thats all i need. is that right? and what else should i get before the installation besides oil. BTW i'm not doing the job a guy at kwik kar's gonna do it.

oh and the car only has 48K on it so im not worried about bearings.

Most shops won't install without bearings. It makes absolutely no sense to open the rear and not do the bearings. The sealant is all you need.

Skipping the bearings isn't very swift. Do it, cheap insurance.

I agree my car only has 48k and I just did mine one of the races was all pited and it makes sense to do the bearings and axle seals as well as the outter pinion seal, you won't regret it. RTV Black silicone is the best thing over a gasket.just my .02

Posi additive,some red loctite for the ring gear bolts,silicone will work fine for the cover.....yeah,agree ,best to change all the bearings out,,with a complete bearing kit...you'd have to pull the big pinion(if you wanted to re-use it)bearing off,,with out tearing it up,,,which is sometimes hard to do without the right tools..anyway...I've got mine to do this weekend also(4.10s)....Good luck with it....
