Default 2v-4v

for a pi swap, would it be possible to just swap 4v heads on instead of 2v.

In a word... No

I believe the bolt patterns are different as well as the timing chain, timing cover, and just about everything in front of the bare block.

no you can do the swap, but from what most poeple say on here it's easier just to buy a 4v engine complete instead of the swap, but i'm sure someone on here knows more info to the question you asked on what would need swapped

All I can say is my friends 2v and my 4v are completely different up top and in front. Best bet is to get a 4v block

no you dont need a new block, just the heads - the problem is the timing cover, sprockets gears, all the little pieces that make it work - best bet - buy a junkyard cobra motor and do a rebuilt and drop in

You say "you dont need a new block, just new heads"but then you say to "buy a junkyard cobra motor and rebuild it". Thats the same thing as getting a new blockDA.

In some ways it is; yes! My point was that a 2v block and a 4v block look totally different; you cant just swap out heads because they're different sizes. I've had my Cobra for 2 months and im a 1st gear member and I know that.

WTF!!!!you shouldn't be owning a cobra if you think any of the 96-04 blocks are different sizes, they are all 4.6 281's, the only main differences with these engines over time is that some are aluminum, and there are those few 99-00(or 01 im not fully sure) that are windsor blocks instead of romeo. And bransdaman78 is saying you don't need a new block but all that stuff he stated, but how it would be easier just to buy a junkyard cobra engine, he wasn't contradicting himself when he said that.
