Default Gas help??

I know this is a mustang site and this is a 4.6 section, so please don't bash just help if you can. I am asking this question here because naturally i'm a 4.6 owner, and this section have lots of intelligent people. Anyway a good friend of mine (while on the cell phone) put 87 octane in her 06 C230 and it requires at least 91 octane, 11.2:1 compression. She was filling up and noticed what she was doing after about 8 gallons. So, she stopped and called me and ask if she finished filling up with premium would it be ok. And I didn't think it would, so I told her to wait and I would have AAA to come and get it. So, we had it towed to her house and that is where it is. She talked to her saleman/friend and he says that they won't drain it under warranty she would have to pay for it(which I can agree with it). But he said if she were to drive it and it caused problems theres a better chance at getting it fix under warranty. I know that those octane boosters are full of crap. So my simple question is if a race octane like 104 or something would even it out?

i dont belive you will be in any real trouble at all, i put 87 in my t/a the other day which is supposed to take high grade anyways(10.5 CR) and i had no problems or even any pinging, i think your friend is overreacting but i guess she's just being safe, just add some 93 to it there is no problem in mixing the 2, and if you really had to drain it (which i dont think is necessary) get a hose, stick it in the tank and siphon(sp?) it out, then add some high grade but i do not think this requires a mechanic, oh yea octane booster is BS it gives a 1/10 of an octane hardly worth it if you ask me.

I agree with GT, you shouldnt have any problems. Its up to you wether or not you want to put 104 octane to clean the system out. Personally I wouldnt because its really expensive and not alot of places carry it. I would put 93 in it from now on and the car should be fine. Onceyou drain the tank, if it hasnt been driven since she filled it, fill it with 93+ , rev it in the driveway for a bitthen have it checked out under warranty. Just say ur in for a routine check or something like that but have them pay particular attention to the fuel system. Say she heard rumors of water in the gas, somthing creative but not unbelievable.

brand new benz... do you know if it has knock sensors? if it does, I believe it will throttle back the timing enough that you can use lower octane and have no detonation.

tell her to finish filling up with 93 octane and not to worry. the car really wont ping unless she starts running the dog p*ss out of it and flooring it from every stoplight. if she really wants to play it safe, have her fill up again after1/2 a tank with premium again. she will be ok
