I mean because it's the 99+ engine would there be any compatability issues. I'm seriously considering doing this (if not this actual engine, then another one). My car has about 108k on it and I have not seen any leaks or had any smoke or whatnot...I'm just wonder if I should be pre-emptive about things. Does my car have a diff. tranny from the 99+ Gt's? Which one? What kind of labor charges do you think I would be looking at to pull my old engine and install a complete one? Or do you guys think I would come out cheaper just refreshing my current block and heads and buying one of those master rebuild kits?

It should fit fine... And from a '96.... Do you have an auto or manual?

You should probably just sell your car and buy a newer car, that way everything is newer.

Beware anything you buy on e-bay!!!You would probably be better suited to go to a junkyard and get an engine and rebuild it yourself as a project so you will know what you have.When you have the time and money to do a project like this over a period of a few weeks it's a lot easier on the mind,and you can still drive the car in the meantime.

My 96 is a 5 speed.

The transmissions are the same. It will drop right in. Don't know about the computer though...it might be different because of the higher flowing heads.

it's just a 2V 4.6

Doesn't sound like too bad of a deal for $2,000. You could just drop it in and hook up the plumbing.

E-bay is risky though, so are used engines.
