why not look at a mach 1 or a F body? My buddy is gonna sell his completely mint 20K mile 00 LS1 auto for like 13,000.

If you look on the plastic bullit shaped thing that holds your air filter in, there is a rubber boot on the left of it going in to the fender. I removed that and changed the stock filter to a K&N high flow filter. When you remove the boot, the whole is much bigger than the other end of the boot. People have said that price wise, you might as well just do this instead of a CAI. I can hear air being sucked in just like with a CAI. I noticed the slightest difference. Nothing to write home about, but definitely worth the $0 it cost to remove it. The filter was about $40, but it is much better quality than the stock paper one. It is also reusable.

So your air filter is just sitting out in the open like you see in alot of pictures?

Fixed. You go take your GT up to a LS1 Corvette or Fbody and tell them how slow theie 5.7 LS1 is.. ha

Not totally open. There is a larger hole on the left side of where the filter is.

I would love to get an F body, but the insurance is simply too much. Living in Miami and being 22 sucks for car insurance

dude. i hear you on the $$..might want to lower that payment and insurance so you can recoup your loss. get a 4dr sedan or something as a daily driver. something where your wife can spread out in the backseat and you can jump behind her something.
buy an old 5.0 cash!!!! and keep it garaged and you can do it up guy!!! good luck

what was that yes that was a gto being passed by a city bus!!!!! dont do it you will regret it after having it for 2 weeks wanting a mustang again but you wont be able to get rid of it because it will be worth noth just like other chevy brands

The GTO is not a bad car, even the 5.7s can be made pretty fast pretty quick. I would not bet on a stock 99-04 GT hanging with one at all, from a stop or a roll.

Its still a LS1... you can still do a cam/exhaust/lid and make 400+ WHP....

But why is the GTO is cheaper on insurance than a mach 1 AND F body?
