The BBK kit doesn't say anything about being SFI approved so I'm going to say it's a piggyback set.The harmonic balancer must be necessary or Ford wouldn't haven added the expense of a harmonic balancer to the cost of the cars.Undampened torsional vibrations WILL eventually break a crankshaft,it's just a matter of when.Lot's of people must buy piggyback pulleys or they would fall off the market, but there are crank failures also. The question is what caused the crank to break? The pulley,or something else.

Hmmm.... I see what you are saying. It looks like the set I bought is a piggyback style set-up, but it doens't say.

I checked and looked at the Steeda set, and they note that they are SFI approved, with a one piece crankshaft pulley.

Damn, I should have checked it.

Well, even if it is a "piggyback" setup, it still utilizes the stock dampener, so there should be no problems.

But any rotational weight loss won't happen now. Wait until you see how heavy the stock damper is...

I used Piggy-Back pulleys, I installed mine without the stock damper and I nearly shat at the butt-dyno response, I didn't expect the car to rev and get into the power band so much better, throttle response was awesome, put the damper on and you felt the loss, but it was still better than stock.

Don't fear, at a later time you can just buy the SFI damper.

So thats what that is!
ORIGINAL: ben790450

ORIGINAL: JJ03MustangGT

the only thing youll really notice is that when you turn your a/c on your car doesnt feel as slow....the 5hp gained isnt noticeable at all
Ford has a clutched A/C conpressor which means under full throttle you car turns off the A/C automatically. Notice on a hot dayif you have the A/C on and you mash it after a while hot air will come out of the vents.

Yeah good point. If I don't like what I get, then I can go and get the Steeda setup.
But, man for the price, I couldn't pass up the BBK kit. It was like $140.00 after the coupon code!

97 stanger I have the stock pullies if you want them. I have BBK's on right now and if you wanted to trade stock for your steedas and of course some cash I'm game. Did you not save your stock ones or what?
