Default timing chain tensioner

on the timing chain adjusters the right side is tight and if u press in the adjuster it comes right back out by its self now on the left side there is no tension i can push it in and out it does not spring back but when i took it out of the engine the spring worked fine so my question is do they only work with oil pressure

yea there is a spring on the inside, if i rember it is pretty strong. so if you can compress it easly then the spring is probly broken,

I would replace that spring tensioner. Yeah there expensive, but when I replaced my cams. Both of them were the same tension and sprung back when I let go... You got a bad one...[:@] You can also get one from ford, of course. http://www.seanhylandmotorsport.com/...ad24547bbd5881

If I understand correctly they are oil pressure driven primarily with spring backup.
