I am in the middle of doing mine right now. I got f'ed by the master rebuild company. They assured me my parts would be here sat. and they didnt show, so now i dont have a car today. Anyway, you need to prolly get at least new pinion shaft bearings and races and a seal, plus the oil like you mentioned and some rtv. If you need any help, I just went through learing all this this weekend, so its still fresh in my mind.

Get a bearing kit they come with all the bearings and shims needed to do the swap. Dial indicator to set the backlash. IMO its a good time to change the wheel bearings and seals but not necessary.

+1 make sure you also get some friction modifier if the gear oil doesn't have any. Also replace the pinion's outer main seal, I just did my rear and replaced everything except axle bearings. Dan

I found the FMS gears to be a damn near exact replacement for the originals. Just replaced, and so far, everything seems to be within spec.

Where can I get a bearing kit? I already have the gears and will use Royal Purple oil which I've heard does not need aditives. Does the bearing kit need to be for the specific 3.73 gears or does it work for all? CanI get the bearing kit at an auto parts store or is it only available on-line? I apologize for beeing such a noob, thanks for the feedback.

You can get the bearing kit online pretty easily. You could also call a local parts store to see if they carry it, but they will likely have to order one anyway and it may be more expensive through them. Can't hurt to call and find out though. Here's a link for one online: http://www.americanmuscle.com/rearendrebuild.html

Just to be sure, this kit or any kit has nothing to do with the size of the gears right? Is it the same for all gears?
