Default 4V heads on 2V motor question

I have a 96 cobra.

I was wanting to build a motor, then swap it into my car while keeping my car driveable during this time to minimise down time.

Is it possible to get a regular 4.6 block, build it with strong internals and such, then swap MY 4v heads and parts onto the block?

yes you can do it... but you have an aluminum block which has two knock sensors. If you used an iron block, they dont have them.... So if you used an iron block I dont know if it would be ok to just leave them disconnected.. Also the gt blocks have a 4bolt main and the cobra blocks well atleast the aluminum ones have a 6 bolt main. You have a teksid block which has been proven to hold up too 1600hp. So I would want to build up the block you have now and not use an iron block which is 80lbs heavier.

I bought a 96 lincoln mark 8 motor just for the block you have. I bought the motor for $400 its got the same heads and block as your cobra motor... You should buy a mark 8 motor like I did and have that short block built up and then have those heads ported and polished... then swap the motor into your car. Thats your best bet!

well I guess I can use what i have, but It has to be relitively fast. the motor is fine thats in the car. The only reason Id be doing it so when I boost it I can run more than like 10psi on it.

so I guess I could get away with Forged Pistons, new bearings, and forgedrods? Im sure theres a whole list of stuff you could do, but Im saying the bare bones basics to the strength of the motor.

In that case I guess I could order theparts ahead of time, get it measured and honed and then reinstall?
