Hey, I'm not complaining. It was just a good excuse to get a forged shortblock built.

I heard that knocking sound when I put on my 270's.... except it was my valves doing some machine work on the pistons.
Alot of people were having problems with those Comp 270's a couple years ago...Comp grinds in 4 degrees advance and when your timing is already screwed up and advanced like Rans is (5 degree advance) that is 9 degrees in advance No wonder people were having PTV issues.

Good News!!!!

Well I got the passenger side done I retarted it 5 degrees it know reads 144 degrees ATDC and 74 BTDC which is 109 degrees where my cam car is supposed to be. so I am happy now I need to finish up the driver side and retard that on 3 degrees

no I rebuilt my motor about 4,000 miles ago with the cams in. but developed a valve tap and decided I should degree my cams. but I installed the cams with the motor out of the car!!

Have you noticed any power gains from degreeing the cams? I'm thinking about doing it but only for the extra HP. I already have the PTV clearance becuase I got my new pistons fly cut.
