if you could be absolutely positive the frame is completely straight and if it doesnt have a salvage title i would get it.
also think of resale value. if it has a salvage title your not gonna get much if any more that what you pay for the car and repairs.
if it met those two criteria i might

Who cares? How much is this thing? If its reasonable, buy it. If the frame is bent a bit, straighten it out. With the technology today, a REPUTABLE body shop can make that thing look and drive like new.

Pick it up, and good luck.

Don't let some of these people put you down. That car looks fine. Trust me I know a thing or two about wrecked cars. Bought my GT for $2150 and after $3000 in parts/labor it went from this....

To this....
Yea nice repair work. But, $3000 total? Come on! That must be a "buddy discount" price or something like that, cause there ain't no WAY the average Joe on the street could have had that car fixed parts'n labor for only $3k

As for that smashed cobra, yea it kinda does look like it's been jumped like another person suspected. If the car is cheap enough the driveline could at least be salvaged out of it

how bout u not worry about the salvaged part ?? not like it matters if u dont sell it..plus like ur gonna get way more in 15 years when u sell the car and that is IF u sell the car.

That guys nuts for wanting $13000 for that car... I just did a quick search on autotrader and found a 03 cobras for 18,000 with half the milage, its sonic blue convertable. Than a competition orage 04 coupe for $18000 then a black 03 cobra for $18,500.... I would not buy that thing, if he wanted to part it out. Hell yeah, you can take the motor and take the parts that are good from it. Or take the interior or the IRS... or the wheels...... But I would not buy that car to try and restore it... Thats just asking for trouble. Now if you got it for a few grand then its worth considering. But for 13grand, thats foolish! You dont know what to expect, thats such a gamble. I would recommend buying one of those cobras for 18,000 and avoid the headache and the trouble....

hmmm....... thanks for the replys. It also looks to me like the whole front end is pushed "up" i guess you could say. The infrastructure, I think is what you call it (the front frame the fenders bolt to) is bent in front of the struts. I don't really think it is killed or anything, but alot of money would be spent on little stuff. I considered trading my GT to this car straight up, but naaa. something just don't feel right about trading a decent looking car I drive to a wrecked car to set in my garage. If I sold my car tonight, i'd buy it this week probably, but... i'm not so sure about trading.
any other input?

I agree $13K to buy that car and fix it to drive is not worth it but, but buying it to part out may be. Because I have seen the engine and tranny combo sell for over $10K a number of times, and thats not including the irs, interior, and and exterior/wheels, brakes I bet $20K would come easy if parted out.
