Dispell Procharger Rumor

RE: Dispell Procharger Rumor
I've 'heard' not 100% positive, that the D1sc makes its lower boost levels later. Say you're trying to run 8psi, it will make psi in the RPMS than the P1sc. Not positive though.

RE: Dispell Procharger Rumor
10 psi is fine for the motor. It depends on the engine condition as well. Well maintained, etc... I wish I had gone with the D-1SC. I had to put a 3.20" pulley on my P-1SC to get 12 p.s.i. If I had the D I would've only had to drop it to a 3.6 or so. Remember, pay $400-500 now or pay $1200-$1300 later to upgrade.

RE: Dispell Procharger Rumor
since I don't ahve the D, I don't know. You might check procharger.com and see if they have any specs on the rpms and boost range. Or call them tomorrow and ask. I wish I knew the answer for you. If I find it somewhere, I'll let you know.

I guess the last question I really need answered is if the boost comes on at a lower RPM than the P1SC or not?

To support that question....and to give more info....This is from my basic knowledge of FI taken from Turbos and anything else that runs on Impelares..... A smaller turbo, like a smaller supercharger will "spin" or "spool" up faster then one thats bigger. Thats why a Twin Turbo setup where one turbo is smaller and one is bigger is soo effective.... The smaller turbo will spool up faster for the lower RPMs till the bigger one kicks in....
I've not have the privilage on comparing dyno results of the P1 and D1 chargers side by side but I do know.... And I've seen this happen. An 01 GT with a P1 Setup running at MAX psi boost (12psi) and built motor putting down around 575rwhp with full bolt ons and cam and head setup.... A similar Setup on a 04 GT with a D1 running at 13psi showed a power level of 600rwhp...... Now its a 1psi difference but you can see where the P1 Leaves off, the D1 picks up..... You can have a 700 plus HP car running on just the D1 and built motor. The P1 "CAN" do 14psi but its effieceny falls greatly and the problem with belt slippage kicks in. In order for a P1 to compete with a D1 Nitrous needs to be added into the mix.

RE: Dispell Procharger Rumor
If the pulley/internal ratios are the same the one with the larger impeller is going to move more air. About air temps the D-1 is going to run cooler air because it is more effiecient. One thing that wasn't touched was belt slip. The larger blower will stress your 6 rib belt more. There is math on backpressure and HP to turn, but last I asked after a few drinks Dan Jones just looked at me and smiled.....
I don't have a lot of experince with Procharger but I can tell you every step up from a A/S/T/ Ysi Vortech yeilded me right at 40whp. With each blower pumping cooler air than the one before it. And also having gains from the time that it went to WOT. I would buy the D-1 right from the start.

IMO get the P1SC.. You can always toss on a smaller pulley and run upwards of 12+ lbs of boost.. I was told the D1SC is more of a race model.. I have the P1 and I have no issues.. IF my motor craps out I will just rebuild and get a smaller pulley.. Then I will run the boost up to about 14+ lbs..
