Default 99 Block

Anybody know if there is a difference between the 98 and 99 block itself?

kool, i think i might pick up a 99block and build a engine, im thinkn about goin w/ forged pistons and rods, stock crank, raisin the compression abit, and then put my pi heads on it and hopefully pick up some cams, wat u guys think of the set up?

WHy go forged internals if you're not running really high compression or forced induction?

For your plan, you'd be better off just buying a 99+ engine.

If I had a 99 block, I'd bore it out a little, then get custom forged pistons, forged rods, cobra crank (from a 5-speed).

Then run 15+ lbs. of boost from a Vortech and run 11's....

That's sorta what I'm mulling over for my car. Minus the PI heads. Would a 99+ engine be plug and play for a 96GT? If so...that would make my decision so much easier. They both have the same tranny from what I've been told.

If you have the money then why not build it. There is no telling what you might wanna do in the future. So its always better to do it right the first time. And there is nothing wrong with running a engine on all forged without a PI application. Hell, forged will take a lot more nitrous than the stocker also... just get you a good cast iron or steel intake manifold and shoot a 300 shot. LOL

thats the plan though, i want to run really high compression, my plan is to build a nice little na block, i mean i can get forged pistons that will raise the compression, and then on top of that the pi heads them selves will raise the compression, wats probably a good compression ratio for a na block? o and the stock crank shuld be fine i think md said its good up to somthn like 800hp?
