You can still hear it through the tranny, especially since he's got a shot throw. I'm not saying its rear end whine, just that you could hear it through the tranny if it was. Like I said, I would't worry about it.

Through the tranny, I wouldn't worry much about it unless your forks are bent.

You would hear gear whine coming through your trunk/back seat, not through the shifter.

when i first installed my mgw shifter it whined alot. i really heard it when i downshifted thats when it whined the most. either it went away or im just used to it now. my exhaust seems to hide the sound a little.

Mine only whines at the shifter when I downshift into 2nd gear. I heard it with the stock shifter and hear it more with the B&M

TOB? I had the same problem in my 97 4v t-45 and replaced the throw out bearing and the wine is gone.

TOB's sound like a bird chirping? I've never heard one whine.

I'm thinking it was the TOB. When we took the old one out and spun it the bearings were shot. Kind of like what a skateboard wheel bearing sounds like after too much use. The other symptoms were the 2nd gear synchro was touchy and in 5th you had to shift under 1200 rpms.
