thanks a lot. i'm running an eibach pro kit with kyb agx adjustable shocks/struts!

what kind of numbers are you pushing through your car? this will give me an estimate, considering im doing almost the exact same thing except the heads, but maybe the blower cams will make up for the heads?? who knows...mph told me with theyre cams ill get 25rwhp

also, does an intercooler add any hp?? or is it kind of a theory setup, whereas it lowers your boost from the original number(just say im running 10lbs and i add an intercooler, this bumps it down to 8lbs, letting me run 2 more lbs. so realistically im running 12 lbs but its showing 10? thats the way i take it as)

I would say your in the range of 360-380 rwhp. Honestly, thats pretty good. At that range, your looking at running with a stock 03/04 cobra... but of course, you cant find many of those these days.

ORIGINAL: 97stanger

I currently have a 1997 GT, auto, 44k miles on the original motor.
It is a full bolt on, and i have a SQ Trim mongoose kit waiting to be installed with a 255 walbro intank pump, and a MPH boost pipe.
I am going to get the kit installed and my car dynotuned to see where i am at.
I am then going to install a PI Intake Manifold and some custom grind blower cams.
I will then again get the car re dynoed and tuned.
My final steps of the car will be to add a Paxton A/A intercooler, a Mini race bypass valve, and then put a smaller pulley on the blower due to the loss of lbs from the cams and i/c.
I will obviously get the car redynoed again.
All of this will be done in the following stages i just listed.
Do you think this setup along with all the bolt ons will reach me my goal of 385-400rwhp??

thanks guys
Why do you have the walbro pump? I think code was talking about having major problems with those. The MPH kit comes with the SVT focus pump unless something has changed in the last year. Or can you not use the SVT pump on a NPI car?

You definatly should think twice about the paxton a/a cooler... its nothing more than a FMIC that costs like 1200-1400 bucks. You can do an entire do it yourself intercooler kit for like 500 bucks... and have a better setup with T bolt clamps.

I think you might make 385/400 on this setup with the right cams and a intercooled SQ, even with the NPI heads...

But why don't you look around for an entire PI engine. A set of blower cams witn a intercooled SQ will sure make more power than with the NPI engine. A couple months back a lady asked about doing work to her car, and ended up getting an entire PI assembly (no computer) for 600 bucks I beileve.

That is correct you can not use the focus pump on that car because the 96-98 use a returnable fuel system. I have the walbro 255lph pump and I havent had any issues.

Figured it was something like that.

I am gonna have to call around someday and just see what I can get a low milage junkyard 2v 4.6L for.. it can't be that expensive.

Lots of miles (kinda) but you could do a cheap rebuild on it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-...spagenameZWD1V

Ten second search on ebay. If they are this cheap, why even bother with a PI swap? A good buyer could shop around and get one from a junkyard with pretty low miles with everything for well under 700 bucks, probably even with the electronic stuff and harness.

Why bother with a PI swap? 1200 bucks for a PI swap or 600-800 for a PI engine and you don't have to take it apart?

im not doing a pi swap, im not touching my heads. all im doing is the intake and cams...might cost me $900 for intake, cams, springs?? im definately not swapping my motor out, it has 44k original miles. I think that would just be stupid... i agree that i can make a lot more power with a pi motor...but for now i think jus slapping this stuff on a very very low mile motor should reach me my goals...maybe sometime down the road ill swap the motor
