Telling insurence about mods??
I was thinking today and what if i got into an accident and i had no proof about the mods in my car for the insurance company to replace. what do i have to do to not have this happen? im not talking about a big accident that hurts the motor and stuff but maybe a fender bender and it may have messed up the hood/bumper and if i have an afermarket hood do i tell the insurance company to replace it with the same hood? or do i just tell the shop that does the work? ive heard of some people keeping recipts of everything but its too late for me to start that now[:@]and does your insurance go up if they find out you have performance parts on your car? thanks

You can have the car appraised with the modifications, however you might not get what you want without receipts to prove what you paid.
It's an excellent idea, especially since you can usually remove your stuff before insurance takes ownership of the car.

Everytime I add a mod to my car, my insurence company comes out and takes a few pictures and asks for copies of the recipe. I like having the piece of mind knowing that those parts will be replaced, but only if I'm not at fault in the accident. Some companies will not insure a modified car, so you may want to ask your co. My rates go up about $2 a month everytime I add a mod, but it's worth itto me.

Well guys I have had this happen to me and it sucks. I was *** packed by a drunk 19 yo. They wanted to give me 4000 for the car I came up with 16000$ in recpiets and we only got 10K back but they sold me the car back for 1000$ so I was able to part that out and get a lil money back. If you do not put a ryder on the car you will get screwed

my fiance works for Nationwide, and she told me that anytime any modifications are made, the insurance company is supposed to know about it, or they could "hypothetically" refuse your claim.....

Hmm, thats an interesting topic. I'd like to call my insureance company about this. I have more in this car than the car is worth itself.
If I were to have an accident that totaled the car, (assuming the engine was not hurt) I could probably get more for the engine/supporting mods, than I could get for the whole car.
