How do determine what gear ratio I have?
I recently seen a video of an automatic Mustang's gauge cluster while the drive stomping on the gas 0-40 mph in first gear. The driver claims he has 3:73 gears. My mustang is a 5-speed and does very close the same speed in first. I bought my car about 7 months ago and I'm wondering if I have stock or after market gears. How will I find this out?
I was set to believe the 3:73 gears will have shorter gears than stock. And 4:10’s will become even shorter. This video makes me wonder these questions.
If anyone can provide me some information about what gear ratio help for each gear I’d thank ya.
I understand how the gear ratio works just not sure if they become shorter or longer.

automatics are 4 speeds so 0-40 in first sounds right with 3.73s in a auto. If you have a 5 speed and its very similar then i would say you have the stock 3.27s i believe.
