1 of 2 things I can think of:

1: Mustang GTs did not come standard with Trac-Lok (posi, or "limited slip") until 2004. before then it was still an option and your car may not have had that box checked when it was built.

2: The clutches in the posi are worn out. Once they wear out all the way the rear acts like an open dfferential (one-legger, no posi). If thats the case you need to have a new posi unit put in (buy some 4.10s while your at it if so)

My money is on situation #1. Especially with only 15k on the ticker. As for "turning it on", there is no button to control it. It just works on its own. He may be thinking of Traction Control which is something totally different and does not affect whether or not the car has posi or not.

you lose your money on #1, I'll PM my paypal info. maybe you are thinking of traction control? number two sound likely to me.

I sit corrected. But what Im wondering is, if its only 15k miles its doubtful that teh clutches are worn out. Next, if he was able to do a burn out, then obviously traction control was turned off or else it would have killed the powerband and not allow him to smoke em up. Therefore???? IDK, but if his clutches are gone then that was a hell of a 15,000 first miles thats for sure.

maybe it wasn't on a flat surface? either the t-lok is FUBAR'd (look it up in the german dictionary) or he was on an uneven surface and we're not getting the full details.
