RE: 350$ to much for gears??
Hey, Roundman....
Can you keep an ear open down there for someone who'll do a gear install for less than $500 and will give me some kind of gauruntee? Like if it don't work, come back and I'll fix it type of thing?
Thanks.

I got quoted $250 from a guy in town that specializes in Mustangs...I heard nothing but good things from other people and I know he will do a good job. Figure approx 4 hours labor (conservate) and you got $62 an hour...for a good mechanic, it's worth it.
$350 is really too high though

I was quoted $150 gear install, $75 rebuild trac-lok, $20 for fluids. Couple hours worth of work. This is in Houston,TX. Ihaven't had the shop put them in yet due to my schedule but they do Mustangs all day long.

I got a quote for $250 but the guy that owned the garage is a douche and kept dicking me around, two $350s and the guy that ended up doing mine did it for $300. It took forever for me to find someone that would do it so I couldn't be all that picky about the price. I had my gears in my bedroom for about 7 months while I looked for a place to do it for a reasonable price.
