i drive a 2003 GT. out of curiousity, i wanted to kno what my car topped out at before the fuel pump cut off. i made it to 150mph. that completely tops out the gauge. im confused bc i thought it was supposed to cut off at 139. it definitely didnt! any thoughts?

Just be aware of what will happen if a tire blows at that speed.Animals on the road can also be a concern.
That being said I've had mine to 145 and it was still gaining speed,not a lot,but it was accelerating.Theres no doubt it could have went a little faster.My car is all bolt-on's including UDP's,S&B air filter,Steeda timing adjuster,Accufab T/B and plenum,and a full Bassani exhaust W/cats,The speed limiter was in cars with the 16 inch wheels I think.So I don't believe the 17 inch and up people have speed limiters to worry about.
As far as the speed limiter cutting off the fuel,I don't know how they work but my last car,a Lincoln MKVIII,just wouldn't go any faster than 130 in stock factory trim.It didn't stumble or do anything,it just quit pulling.A chip did away with that restriction though.
Now for the big question that thousands of readers will want to have answered.What mods do you have?Gears,exhaust,T/B,intake,chip or programmer,or UDP's?
Like I said at the beginning,wrecking a car at these speeds is VERY easy to do,and you will definately make the news,so be carefull and try not to take any innocents out with you.

The sped limiters for the 03/04 Mach1 are set at 126 mph for the auto and 151 mph for the manual, these of course can be disabled with a tuner,
I'm not sure but I believe the limiters for the GT are set about the same.

the only mods done to the car are a full Borla exhaust system and 2" Eibach Sportline lowering springs.

i definitely understand what you're saying about being careful && trust me, i have no intentions on doing it again. curiosity got the best of me, i had my thrills, and it's not something i intend on repeating bc i already kno i can do it.

I had mine too 145 when it was bone stock

in my opinion thats something i would never attempt. but ive heard that they top out just about 150. i was at a website that claimed 158 but never heard of any stock stangs getting there. be safe speed demons.

simple the GTs are electonicly limited at 155 mph, get a tuner to knock that up

yeahh i dont think i'll ever be attempting to reach 158 or even 155. 150 was more than enough for me, haha.
