CAI or no silencer causing bad idle?

CAI or no silencer causing bad idle?
Is it possible for a CAI or silencer removal to cause a bad idle? I took my silencer off and a few weeks later, my car started to idle badly and die. I replaced the IAC but put the silencer back on at the same time. Could the silencer have caused this?
