good question....i own a 98 gt and i never thought y i have a few more ponys that an earlyer sn95's...so i also would like to know

I think it was just some ECU tuning.

it wasn't ECU tuning, it was exhaust porting that added the extra 10hp. not trying to sound smart but that's what it is, i read it somewhere in a mustang book or something awhile back

from what i know 98 does have higher power due to modified to the head.
but am not sure if it exactly is the porting of the exhaust.

Oh well same crap different wrapper. I don't own a NPI so I wouldn't know

To quote the Mustang book in my lap right now: "There were few changes for 1998. The standard Mustang GT gained 10bhp, to 225bhp at 4,750rpm, from cleaned-up and revised exhaust ports. Torque was up as well, to 290lb ft."

Good enough for me.

I actually thought it was computer too at first until silverstang mentioned exhaust porting. That's when I looked it up in the book to be sure and sure enough that's it. So just do a PI swap like the 98 still needs anyway and you're done. It was like one very small step towards the PI swap, then in 99 they actually did it the right way.
