Within the next few weeks I will be having my VT Stage 1 camsput in. My question is can I get away with a tune from a handheld tuner like a diablo or the SCT or do I have to have it dyno tuned?? And as far as "tune" goes, wouldnt the timing be the only thing needing a tune after new cams are put in? please steer me in the right way here guys. thanks

for the stage 1's i dont believe you NEED a tune, but - I would. Whenever you change the internals on your car i'd make sure you would atleast check the A/F via dyno, but also i'd get it dyno tuned... just to make sure your getting everything you can - the canned tunes normally come rich, so you're leaving HP on the table.

would you drive your car across country without checkin the tires psi, oil, makin sure you have gas money......i know i wouldnt, and i sure wouldnt trust a pre set tune. do yourself a favor and get it dyno tuned. but to answer your question yes you can get away with it but and u probaly wont see much of a difference, but to be on the safe side id get it tuned. just my .02
