blown head gasket

RE: blown head gasket
I've got a buddy (Ex Ford tech) doing a set on my family truckster (89 Windstar) for 500 bucks! If it needs head work, and yes, have them checked when they're off, expect to possibly double that.

You can expect to pay around $1000 for that job cuz it's a b***h and a half due to the overhead cams and angle of the engine. If your not sure that's what's wrong then I'd start with a good diag.

Ya right? Have you priced head gaskets and bolts for these motors? I got Felpro gaskets and new bolts for somehere around $200. Maybe the coolant would be $15, but that's it.

RE: blown head gasket
so somewhere around $1000 would be about right? i got a quote which was double that, which is why i had to ask if that was the norm. while changing my spark plugs there was coolant in the cylinder, at first i thought it was a cracked intake manifold but took it to be pressure tested and they couldnt find any leak so the only other thing i could think of was a blown head gasket.
