pi cam and intake swap
Hey guys!! On another forum I read that if you swap out just the pi cams and intake you can get pretty decent gains (30-35rwhp) is this true. I called a respectable mustang shop (wms racing) and they advised against doing it.
1) has anyone ever done it?
2)how much for install?
3)is it worth it?
thanks.

It'll probably end up costing you about half of a full PI swap I'd guess of the top of my head, and yes, it will get pretty good gains. I'd suggest doing it all at once, but if you don't want to/dont have the money, etc, then it's a good halfway mod.

The PI intake and cam swap is a great budget swap...you can get everything for under $300 if you look around. it does add @30rwhp

Yeah I read the same thing. Seems like a good option to me as well. I'm curious of what it'll feel like with just a pi intake and stock cams....then maybe switching cams later...also I read that you use a PI intake gasket and just move it to fit the npi heads?

well you do use the npi gaskets but there are addtional areas that the gasket doesn't seal correctly, so a fair amount of RTV is used. Also livernoise has a kit for this, its not cheap but everything fits correctly without overdoing the spooge.

No don't use the NPI gaskets because they don't match up well. You use the PI gasket and almost no RTV...just a dab on the coolant port.
