Default weird idleling

my check engine light came on today and i had the code read, it was my rear oxygen sensors. im guessing my mil eliminators have stopped working for whatever reason and my car has been ideling pretty badly a little before the light came on and alot worse now. it is moving between about 550 and 750 mainly when im stopped at a stop light but sometimes in park. my question is could this weird ideling be caused by my mil eliminators failing and throwing the check engine light?

the rear o2 sensors effect nothin about how the engine runs, just tells inspectors whether or not you can pass.

When my MIL's failed my idle was all over the place. I couldn't explain why and can't figure out any logical reason why, but it def happened & def. stopped with new MIL's. My RPM's would hang too..

However, if your rear O2's actually failed, the MIL's wouldn't work anymore either. Goodluck determining which failed...

one of my head gaskets is blown, would that also be a reason why my idle is all over the place?

I wish my problem was just a wierd idle. I also have a 2000 GT and my pony started idling funny on me and runnin like junk. My check engine light came on, had it scanned, and turned out to be a cylinder misfiring. Now, im looking at a fuel issue cuz now my car wont start at all. [:@].

Check your plugs and coils, maybe even your cats Good luck, and let us now.

that could be a problem

mine shoots the rear o2 sensor codes, but the only thing wrong with my car is hanging idle, but i think i just need to clean the maf.

i cleaned my IAC and MAF sensor and the idle was still rough. i hate when this happens because it can be so many things. if i really had to guess i would say it is my mil's going bad or the o2 sensors because my check engine light came on and the code that was read pointed me to the o2 sensor on bank 2.

Your O2 sensors just allow you to pass smog....i would definately say to check your cats.
