First snow of the year today. I had planned on just venturing out on my ultra high performance summer tires, but my Dad called and said to be careful driving my Stang in the snow, and I decided to my 88 Caddy, because I just won't settle for anything less than a V8.

so i've been lucky so far this winter having pretty much bald tires and no snow.

i JUST received my new black bullitt rims w/Nitto 555s today and I'm putting them on tomorrow. I just also bought 100 lbs of cinder blocks and put them in my trunk.

friday it looks like snow is finally going to hit.... I know the nittos are NOT snow tires, but I'm hoping that between the fact that they're brand new and i have extra weight in the trunk, itll be ok....

am i right or am i still screwed?
just curious, how much does 100 pounds of cinder blocks cost? [sm=icon_rofl.gif]

i agree with AJ, its not that bad if you keep traction on and accelerate PAINFULLY slow. i keep my revs below 1700 max. i dont have a problem and i live in the north chicago suburbs. i actually prefer rwd in the snow because if i start to lose traction in the back i can still steer with the front....where as with my moms taurus your effed if you lose traction. i have the stock g/y eagles, theyre not bad. at all times i have to do like 10-15 under, but i did get hung up on like 7 inches last year trying to leave my gfs house... and i check with my dad( an ASE certified ford mechanic)and he said you shouldnt put more than 70 lbs of whatever to keep traction, he said itll screw with your springs if you keep it in there for the whole winer, and its TERRIBLE if you have a vert.

When I bought my car a cople months ago it came with 4brand new low profile Defender ZR performance tires. They are real nice for sporty driving but I could hardly get out of my driveway today and my driveway is flat with only a couple inches of snow on it, thats pathetic[:-]

If you live were it snows regularly they also sell cheap 60 pound bags of sand that work perfect when the snow gets too deep for any traction. I can't get up the hill to my house with out 2 of these in my car when the snow and ice get real bad (I put one in the trunk and one on my back seat to even out the weight on the back tires) :-(. If you use more than 120 pounds, just remember to take the bags out of the car when you don't need em, that extra weight couldn't be good for the shocks.
