I also have a 275/40/ZR17 on the back wheels which are 17x8. From what I hear it's the widest that will fit on this size of rim, they do bulge a little bit but still look pretty sweet. For a decent priced, good traction tire I recommend the BFG g-force sport. And they don't wear any different than any other sized tire.

Just get the 245/45 17 tires that come stock on most 17x8 GT wheels. They don't look too bad.

IF your car is lowered and you have 245's on the back the wheel looked like crap tucked up under the fender, 275's are fine on a 8 inch rim
