Best tire size for 8 inch rim?
What is the best tire size for an 8 inch rim? I currently have 235/55 on them. How big could I go without looking stupid and causing the middle of the tire to wear quicker?

RE: Best tire size for 8 inch rim?
i was wondering the same thing.. i went to a tire shop and they said that "as a professional,275/40/17 wont fit on a 17x8 rim safely" but then he said that he has seen people that had put275/40/17 on an 8 inch wide rim with no problems at all..

Are you looking for the best handling or just thewidest tirethe tire guy can get to seal? No wider than 245 for handling but 275's will go on there, just like 04gtmatt and 99gtstang suggested. As you know, divide the width (245) by (25.4) to get the width in inches. With an 8" rim, actually 8" to 8.25" tires will handle the best in the curves.

I want it to handle the best but also look good. I like the wider look even on stock rims. I have 235 now, and it just doesn't seem wide enough for me.

275=10.8 inch tire.. thats alot of lip i think it would not look good......
so you have 235s now 9.25 inches wide figure out how much wider you want tire on each side then get a size according to that
