Its not retarded, it makes sense. The car is zero balanced, (ie internally balanced) but the crankshaft pulley is a harmonic dampener. This helps smooth out the vibrations caused by rotational forces and stresses on the crankshaft. By over revving it, you are forcing the crankshaft to spin so fast that the harmonic dampener/balancer cant keep up, and bad stuff happens. The only way to prevent seized pumps when doing this kind of retardedness is to get billet oil pump gears . with are a huge PITA to install (I got this info from the steeda tech)

I only had my Steeda UDP's on for a month before getting the blower. I don't know that they gave me any more HP but I did get better MPG (no, that's not what I bought them for but that's what I got out of them) and the engine did seem to rev more freely (and engine brake less effectively) so I know some of the drag was lessened. I'd put them on another NA car.

dlazrael is right. it can happen with over reving but can also happen with normal driving. It throws off the balance and over time the oil pump gears will shatter. Think of it this way if you tap on a piece of metal with a hammer it wont break but if you keep doing it over a lng period of time it will break. Same thing happens when you throw on a light weight flywheel.

I wouldnt recomend selling them if you really want to use them. You can gain about 3wrhp. I use the march dampner but I used that and my flywheel when I had my internals balanced. Most people dont have problems so its your choice if you want to risk your engine or not.

well i understand the aluminum flywheel causing that kinda problems but i dont see it too much from a reputable udps such as steeda. I didnt think the accesorys were slowed down THAT much. like i said I noticed no change in anything except a better reving engine. I have a 800 watt stereo and i turn it all the way up sometimes and notice nooooooo power loss. I dunno but i am quite curious on this topic though

I have had UDP's on my 01 GT for quite sometime, 30-40k miles. No engine problems at all. A/C is cold, all my electical is fine, everything is fine. No real increase in power. I would recommend them if you have like NOTHING else left to do to your car. Its just another 200 dollar bolt on.
