the rpm's dont lie. if u have a different cover then maybe someone replaced the stock gears at some point with the same ratio. if the car wasnt owned by a performance enthusiast that isnt so hard to believe

To know what gears you have for sure.... Jack up the car, make a mark on the driveshaft, spin tire one revolution. Count how many times the driveshaft turns.
3 1/4 turns= 3.27`s
3 1/2 turns= 3.55`s
3 3/4 turns= 3.73`s
4 turns= 4.10`s

85 mph, 2500 rpm, 5th gear (manual)...you have 3.27's, or stock gears. 4.10's would be a little over 3100 rpm at 85.

You have stock gears. At 70 with my stock gears I turned 1800 RPM.2500 at 85sounds about right with stock gears. A simple test is to see where you max out in 1st or second gear.

With stock gears I redlined at 67-69 mph in 2nd gear. In 1st I topped out at around 40.
