Default Optima Red Top Batterey

WTF??? Isn't a battery a battery? I usually pick up the Wal-Mart mod when mine goes.

What's the deal with these?

unless you are running alot of accessories like big stereo, radar, ipod, etc etc etc the stock replacement is fine and alot cheaper.

Also, Optima makes sealed batteries that wont leak any fumes so you can relocate the battery to the trunk or something if you wanted to.

Doesn't Optima make different color tops? Like Red, Yellow, etc..? What's the difference?

They do. They have a red, yellow, and blue. The red is a high output battery, the one for your stang is the 34-78redtop. The yellow is a little cheaper and I think it is not designed to be a starting battery, the blue is a deep cycle marine battery. I have a red top in my stang utalizing the factory location, with some modifications to the stock battery box. I am going to relocate it to the trunk however. Its purpose is mainly looks in a stock application. A good idea is to go with something like an interstate, unless you are running all kinds of acc's or you are going to relocate it.

I had one in my Nova once. It was a red top. Lasted less then 1 year. Got a little cold then wouldn't except a charge. I used to use Exide 840s on all my rides. I bought like 6 of those things and they never gave me even one slight problem. Now I cant find em anymore, CSK only sells Autolite now. My MotorCraft greeneye stocker is doing pretty good though, I think I'll stick with that if mine ever goes.
