RE: 1997 cobra vs. 2000 gt
The COBRA, if not beaten. Less made than the GT's, it's a 4V, some mods are expensive but responds ahell of alot better. 13.9 stock on the track but throw some 4.10's to get it in it's power band and see how she runs then. it's a COBRA. already 45 HP more than a 2000 GT, so if you put a supercharger on both, who will win....no hands down the COBRA. Everyone has a GT,........... COBRA
My friends 96 Cobra had alot of suspension mods but only had a CAI, TB, and dyno tune and was pumping over 290 to the wheels. A 2000 GT with CAI, TB and dyno tune probably around 230-240HP

RE: 1997 cobra vs. 2000 gt
I found a low mileage 99 GT, had I found a 96-98 CObra, with EQUAL miles for the same price, who knows, i might be a Cobra owner now
personally, its what you want.. if youre looking for a enjoyable street car thats pretty quick, it doenst really mattter which you go with, both are quick, and look pretty good..
if you want something to build up with N/A power, then youre MUCH better off going the Cobra route, but if boost is in your future, you should think about the 2V GT's since they'll likely be cheaper to build up as a F/I car..
but, all that aside, if you find a 96-98 with LOW miles, jump on it, if you dont care so much about miles, look into ealier New Edge's, like 99-01
