I just got the PI cams and intake, skipping the heads. I am assuming 4:10 gears should be next? Are a 70-75mm TB and CAI even worth the money? How much rwhp gains are the TB and CAI good for? Thanks

Not as much a gain as the heads

I heard the heads are only good for 8-10 rwhp? Plus, they are like $750, far too expensive for that little gain IMO I figured the TB and CAI would make that much for less than half that price.

Without PI heads, you will get even LESS of gains with a TB and CAI over PI heads, which with those, its barely anything anyway. You can get a CAI for like 100-200 bucks, then a good TB/plenum combo for like 400-500. And you are already at the price of those heads (you say ~$750), with less gains. Save up.

What does a Plenum do? I am looking for cheap hp. I found a BBK CAI for $150 and a 70mm TB for $175. Heads just seem too pricey for what they give you power wise. I also heard that the compression isnt too good either. Thanks

Do some more researching... The Intake/cams are really what are holding back these non-pi's... heads are proven to give that 10 extra hp, but it's also likely it's from the compression bump. Now, I'm not saying these cai/tb/plenum will do much.

Man, I hate to break it to you but youwill see hardly any gains from your bolt on mods until you ditch those non-pi heads. The heads are the restriction on your motor. You can put all the bolt on's you want but thats not what is holding the engine back. With full bolt on's with non pi heads you will be lucky to see a 15 rwhp increase. With the cams and intake you put on, you might see 20-25 rwhp increase.

Whoever told you that you would only get 8-10 hp with the PI heads were full of crap. With a full pi swap you will see about 40 hp increase on a completely stock motor. Most of that coming from the better flowing heads.HP will be just above what a stock 99-04 makes because your compression will be a little higher.

Hmm, seems people have differing views on this. I was going by what I read about PI swaps and what I saw on a few other boards. People saying you can do just as well with PI cams and intake with the stock heads. Wish I knew for sure, seeing some dyno proof on it. I certainly dont wanna spend $750 on heads to get a lousy 8-10 rwhp.

Is ur car automatic or manual? Is it supercharged? If it's N/A manual go with 3.73's and 4.10's for auto....75mm is also some good HP gain..
