Tire Question/ 240x40

Will they fit? I currently have 245x45 R17, I am going to put the car up for sale, and the tires are pretty freakin bald. I found VERY cheap tires that are on sale, I just want to make sure they will fit without looking awkward, anyone have 240x40 tires on stock 17 inch rims?

i think they won;t look bad... .2 inches smaller then 245's i don't think it will be to bad... + who ever buys it will problaby get new wheels most ppl do

Basically, the car is in mint shape with bald tires. I just dont want someone trying to talk me down because the tires are bald, when I have the oppurtunity to buy new 240x40's for $220.
