Cobra vs Mark VIII block

anybody know the differences in the two engines? im guessin the cams are prob diff? maybe diff intake manifolds? think it would be worth thrown a 32v mark 8 block in the stang???? or even reasonable for that matter?

I think the blocks and heads are the same, but the cams are probably a little more mild in the Mark VIII. What year is the Mark VIII block? I know the 2V 4.6 engine is a little different pre-'96, but I'm not sure if the 2V and 4V engines use the same block. I think the intake is also different. If you wanted to, I'd just look for a used Cobra intake setup on ebay. You'd also have to get a brake booster off a Cobra because the heads won't clear your booster.

Yeah, a Kenne Belle twin-screw...[8D] Haha anyway, I think that about covers it. I'm pretty sure the dimensions of the 4V block and 2V block are the same, and aside from the Cobra being an aluminum block and I think the GT is a cast iron block, they should be the same. Make sure you use a 6-bolt Cobra crank and some good forged internals if you rebuild it. It would definitely be a fun swap. Even more fun if you keep your GT badges...;)

haha, well, i think i found myself a great deal then, i found a mark 8 32v engine with some bad internals, with the heads cams exhaust and intake manifolds, pretty much everything for 500! well i jus gotta talk my dad into loaning me acouple hundred! i wuld defintaely leave the gt badges on! no one would know what hit them, haha

See if you can tear it down before you spend money for the block. Who says it isn't cracked?
