Default factory hood clearance....

with this intake-only swap im about to tackle, the only thing im not sure about is how much bigger the pi intake is vs. the npi intake, then, is the typhoon intake any bigger then the stock pi intake? im just wondering if im going to have enough hood clearance, or will I have to get a cowl hood....

i think if you swap the intake without the adaptor plates you'll be fine...but if you get a kit from like livernois i want to say it wont clear a sway bar if you have it, maybe not the hood...not too sure, im doing it in the next few months so i could let you know if you aren't planning on doing it soon.

You won't need to get any kinda of cowl. It will all fit under a stock hood. Most of the difference between the npi and the pi is in the plenium area which is in the valley.

Edit: I guess I don't know if you use adaptor plates but I don't see it making that huge of a difference. The hood isn't that close stock.

What does the sway bar have to do with an intake swap?

It was designed to fit under a stock hood. You should be fine.

i meant strut bar, i think if you get the livernois kit you have to take it off, considering most of the sn95's came with this stock. Not 100% sure though.

I'm kinda stuck right now on headers. I'm looking into buying a weld up kit. Using the flanges and first part of the 1 5/8 long tubes I have now cut them and step it up to a 1 3/4 custom long tubes. After I just have a couple of small things to deal with. I have to move the fuel lines because the 5.4 fuel rail has the fuel coming in on the driver side.

I'm hoping for something in the 410-420rwhp range. I'm really excited to see the torque band lined up to a similar build on a 4.6 though.
