Heres a definite answer. All pre 03 cobra shortblocks have the same limitations as the GT block. The rods and pistons are the weak link. The pre 03 cobras have only a forged crank. The aluminum cobra blocks can handle more power than the iron GT blocks, though GT blocks are rated around 600 hp.

If you wantbig power youneed to forge both of those motors, theres no cheap way out really. The only other way around it is a complete 03/04 cobra motor or an 03/04 cobra shortblock that you can throwyour heads on. They're not easy to come by, but they're out there.

If your current block's internals are forged I say hang on to it and just throw some boost at it

The reason people are saying lame is because you said you have a 600hp Accord.

I wish I knew how to. Everything i try either says not supported or the file is too big. To get an idea, try this linkamn, it won't even let me paste the link but just go to JGenginedynamics.com and click on the dyno sheets link on the left side to get an idea of what i'm talking about. They have plenty of video as well of up 900HP b16, b18 and h22 and 23's. Any way, I don't want to be rude and I have know reason to lie and i shouldn't of even brought up my honda. I almost 30, married, business owner, with a son and a house. I don't want to pull the wool over anyones eyes. Anyway, I'm not tripping on my honda righth now because it is in pieces for the new tranny i'm putting in with straight cut gears and new syncros and a quaife diff. but i was just wondering and trying to get my stang back on the road. Everyone up here in Reno doesn't seem to know **** about 4.6L fords and not even the big shops. they say go to an iron block. I just happened to have an extra Cobra motor laying around and was debating on wheter to use it or just keep the GT motor. When I spun a bearing I came to a piont were I need a build. I was just wondering if i should scrap all the parts already invested in the 99 4.6L GT to build the 4.6L cobra engeine. They are both aluminum blocks but the cobra has way better heads. Is it worth it? now MARK99 confused me a little bit because I thought that the 99-01 Cobra's had aluminum blocks and when they went supercharged for 03-04 they went back to Iron. Seems like an iron block would be able to handle more power. Also, the GT 4.6L have aluminum blocls as well. Does Mark99gt maybe have it backwards? Maybe I do?

Is anyone out there hitting 600HP on a stock 4.6L GT block out there? Seems like a lot to me

Can you hit 600 HP on the '01 4.6L Cobra block safely.

I will biuld either motor if I have to but I just hear that the aluminum 4.6's are know as disposable motors and don't handle horse power from boost very well. Is 600HP even realistic. Seems like it is but I don't see many 600hp stangs out there without an iron block.

Off topic but I've seen a 10 secound Del Sol with only 400rwhp....... Just food for thought!

And for you mister..... Just Build your GT...... Save yourself the hassel.

Is that good? I was gonna get the t56. I have decided and already shipped my long block to D.S.S. for a full build and port and polish job. They said i will be rated around 900HP capable when done and i'm looi\king to get a 700hp build out of her. so I guess I have a bunch of stuff for sale off of the GT motor. I went with the cobra build cuz of the heads and figured I would get more band for the buck on all of my future bolt on's . I am gonna run a kenne bell i think but maybe not. what do you guys think. twin screw of accessory. I have heard so much good about both. I want constant power though and don't really want to deal with so much lag time like my Honda. If you guys had a full built motor what would you want for mostly time attack and street butt some drag race.I'm also gonna part with my street bike for help in this project since i never ride the thing. Great deal on '03 cbr600rr w/1500 miles like new! also IRS off of '01 cobra and a t45 trans and 99gt ported heads and ill post this all on the 4sale forum

any opinions please on the super charger PLEASE!!!
