Pin Hole in the Head??

Pin Hole in the Head??
Please excuse my ignorance and please be nice. I'm actually a 2nd gen Z-28 owner. The question concerns my neighbors 98' GT bone stock 4.6. While I was out doing some stuff to the Z he asked if I would look at a coolant leak. What I found was where the t-stat housing is, under that and under the gaskets you get to what I guess is the aluminum head or overhead cam cover. On the vertical area about a 1/2" down from the bottom of where the t-stat gasket is on the very front of the engine appears to be a pin hole that squirts out coolant??? Could this have corroded from the inside out?? Or is this a common problem with thin metal between the inside of the water jacket and the outside??

RE: Pin Hole in the Head??
I think Ford has had a problem with thermostat housing cracks. If this is the case it will require a new intake manifold. The manifold in question is made of plastic and the new one has an aluminum crossover tube.Hope this helps.

RE: Pin Hole in the Head??
It was actually in the aluminum under the t-stat housing in what looks to be part of the block and it's deffinitly a pin hole and not a crack. He wire wheeled it clean and it is a good sized little pin hole. He did the old J/B Weld on it and seems to be holding for now.
BTW way, thanks for the response.
