Default heat sheild?

so i installed my Accufab 75mm TB/Plenum with a JLT RAI last weekend. i definately felt a difference in performance, and it makes a cool whistle/suck sound at 2k. anyway for whatever reason i didnt install the heat shield that came with the JLT. so my question is should i put it on or not?

heres a pic for all of you to enjoy.
