Default Oxidized headlights - fixes?

As you can probably see in my sig pic, my headlights are pretty badly oxidized. How can I fix that? I've heard of several ways but I can't recall any of them. I basically want to restore them to looking new, since I want to keep the amber corners (everything aftermarket I can find is projector or clear corner).

They aren't oxidized. They're sandblasted from the streets. You need to polish the plastic back to smooth. A local auto store will have the polish you need. From a mild plastic polish to a fine polish.

Or, spend a few bucks and get new ones. Then get a clear 3M mask to protect 'em.

Yeah, take a look into PlastX by Meguiers, or 3M Plastic Polish. Little on a terry towel or microfiber applicator, and work it in section by section, and wipe off...might take a few applications on each headlight, and some muscle, but it makes a world of difference. You could also use them on a Mother's Powerball mini and speed up the process.

If they're realled efffed up, you could try wetsanding them with a decent grit, maybe 1500 or so, and then over with 2000, and then hit them with the plastic polish to shine them up. Don't have that much experiance on wetsanding, so the grits might be off...if anyone has any info about that, please chime in.

Or if you have the money, its like 115 bucks for one at Ford. Gotta buy two though of course. But nothing is like brand new ones.

Metal polish on plastic? Probably why it didn't work...you have to use the right polish for the job.
