That sounds about right. Ijust putmine in drive after about a half a minute and then I just baby it for a couple of miles until it feels like it's running smoother. But when it's in the 20's and the streets look a tad bit wet, you don't exactly want to start mashin' the pedal either. [8D]

Everymorning when I starther up I lether warm up for about a minute and she's ready to go. She warms up real quick, but don't get me wrong down here early in the morning the temp is in the high 40s and low 50s already around sunrise in the winter.

My car (02 gt) SERIOUSLY takes a long time to warm up! Even if I let it idle for 5 mins., it still takes 5 or 6 miles of driving for it to reach normal operating temp. What can I do? Can I get a different alternator? and if so will it affect normal operating temp.?
mine knocks and takes 4 miles untill it stops and warms up 118 K

Knocking of any kind is not good. My mom has a F150 with a 5.4 in it and it makes a similar knocking sound and then fades away. I dont know what it is, but I have heard alot of fords with it.

I hope your not going by the temp gauge because they are really slow to react. Your car is ready to go in about 1-2 minutes.

10 minutes is way too long to let a cold engine idle, all sorts of nastiness (not just moisture, but acidic combustion by-products) will be condensing into the oil--this will be compounded if you have only a short (or low-speed) drive after that. The best service is: Start, get going 20-30 seconds later, drive gently 'til theoil is warmed up, and then at least 15 minutes of medium load (highway cruising is best) to boil the nastys out of the oil--however, none of this will really matter if you don't plan on keeping the car past 100k miles...

It´s funny you guys are looking for him to warm up while here at Puerto Rico we want them to maintain a cooler temp because of our weather. Mine´s i put everything new on my cooling system even a 160° thermostat and my car still operates at 3/4 from reaching hot. That´s without the A/C, if i turn him on the fan goes on high speed and then i might get him to go 1/2 normal.Wich by the way i would like to know if any of you guys have eliminate the low speed from your fan and if you did how?
