Default F/I and fuel octane

Ok so if I get either a turbo or a blower, does it automatically mean I haveto use premium gas all the time too? Or could I get away with at least mid-grade gas if I don't pump the boost level too high?

Are turbos & blowers both equally dependant on octane level?

You will have to run atleast 93 depending on your tune.

I would use high octane fuel all the time. I do it all the time without a blower.

If you want to advance timing or if you create heat in the combustion chamber (reads: any FI or serious HP increase) you need the highest octane you can get in order to help prevent detonation.

If you can't run premium without worrying about it (due to budget or avaialability) then FI isn't for you.

Why do you do it without a blower? Do you have advanced timing, high compression or just money to burn?

i would hope he has a premium octane tune, otherwise he's just wasting his money

Wrong. All the boosted people in Cali are running 91. (Unless of course it's a track only car with a massive amount of boost.)
